Came The Princess One Evening Poem by Terence George Craddock

Came The Princess One Evening

came the princess
one evening
to the slave fleet
quickly softly speaking

love whispers
speaking
what is your true name
my heart soft is seeking

your true homeland
your true nation
I desire to learn
in understanding

slave spoke a name
a love secret
his tribe in a voice
to a princess keeping

the slave growing
paler and paler because
he loves
the Sultan's daughter

he is she is
from the tribe that dies
when they love
by passion splashing water
