Careless Words Will Last Poem by Linda Barnes

Careless Words Will Last

Rating: 3.0

Certain words when spoken
Between friends then lovers
Whether they were given
Carelessly beneath the covers

Misleading in some way
Whispered and unafraid
Intentional as night and day
Once released, cause pain

Walls that were built
From all who would tear
A home full of guilt
Pictured frames remain bare

Love is precious
Two hearts combining
For those who are curious
Who yearn for everlasting

A heart can be shattered
It is fragile as crystal or glass
Splintered like firewood
