Caring In A Non-Nuclear Fashion Poem by Alexandre Nodopaka

Caring In A Non-Nuclear Fashion

A normal day usually starts with greeting
my overnight companion with Good Morning!
followed by, I had a good night's sleep.

By now I am turning the corner and enter
the bathroom. Tradition and training tells her
I can no longer hear her since I respond only

with a muffled grunt from behind the door.
I mean after 42 years who wants to hear
anyone's abounding complaints.

The next step is to fix coffee.
She says I make the best. Well, I don't know
about that but what I do know is that

the morning elixir usually puts her in a better
mood by clearing her state of mind.
And that's how I want her to be.

In a clear state of mind.
I mean who gives a hoot about who
reduced the North Korean nuclear threat

and as long as she's happy
with my coffee
I don't need my day more epic than that.
