Chained Soul Poem by Manish Jarani

Chained Soul

Shrieking in darkness,
I know you can hear me.
Intending to stifle my screams
when you can just let me go free

What are you so afraid of?

Its like I'm hanging on the chasm
and you are not holding my hand.
Don't be afraid or sad
it’s me, your only friend.

Crawling in darkness,
How tired I’m, you see
I think you're snubbing your own pain
By not letting me go free.

What are you so afraid of?

Its like I'm hanging on the chasm
and you are not holding my hand.
Don't be afraid or sad
it’s me, your only friend.

How long would you keep hushing me?
In this voyage of life,
someday you would have to speak my words
to find peace.
I can't help you otherwise
as I'm stuck, just like the way you are
Stuck inside the walls of your own flesh and bones.
