Change Poem by Timothy J Hopkins

Change

This world is rotting
Nothing to do
Nothing to say
Walking in an endless circle
Slowly dying as we walk
As the second hand ticks
Death keeps creeping in on use
As you walk pretending that it’s not there
Always making plans always reacting
I stop and except it and take what life gives to me
There is no need to fear the inedible
You all look at me like I'm a monster
Yet I understand more than you
I know that you can’t do anything
For I'm different and there’s nothing that will change
I am who I am and always will be
I'm what I want to be so don’t try to change me
You tell me that you will always love me for who I am
Yet you hold me back from my true self
Making me feel like I will never belong
Still always trying to change me
Don’t you realize that what you’re trying to change
Is my being and personality
All I ever wanted is just you to except me
