Chapter 1: Lessons Learnt Poem by Alexia Paul

Chapter 1: Lessons Learnt

I learnt a lesson
Lessons that I learnt were from my own mistakes
Mistakes I should and could have stopped from occurring
I lead a life knowing the reward of mischief were not pleasant
I assumed I could run away from the outcomes of ignorance
My assumption was wrong
It turned out to be a stand still moment when my tears ran like a river
Sleep turned into a monster that was too stubborn to snooze
Eyes turned into a tap that resisted drying
Nose said ‘NO’ to quite running
Depression and Negativity became my blanket of bed
Tomorrows were something I hated to wake up to
I was at brink of turning into nervous wreck
When the sun shined in my face, and made me smile in a century gone
I thought back, how foolish I was
I knew I had to survive and for survival I need help
Help came to rescue as soon as I whispered her name
My life turned to beautiful mornings and amazing star spilled nights
I got my help once I looked up
Hope became my motto,
A second chance that’s what I got
Lessons learnt and learning were pages from God
