Cheese Monger Song Poem by Pasquale DiMeola

Cheese Monger Song

Rating: 5.0

Through the market by the square
You can find him most anywhere
The spread and the rustic guide your nose
So popular...everyone goes

Connoisseurs from elders to youth
Crowding eagerly round his booth
Tasting samples from all the plates
As his recital of songs relate

'You may love ewe or you love sheep
Not loving cheese makes you a creep
How can anyone not love a lamb
Have you tried cheese paired with ham

Some like a cow quiet and sweet
Leaking their cream for cheese to eat
Others love the strong buffalo
Mozzarella pizza to go

Then there's the fragrance of a goat
Parading in a dingy coat
Producing cheese better than most
Partake of all and be my host

You won't mind shelling out the dough
As you nibble Spain's Manchego
All are different...none are better
Brie, Quark or Five County Chedder

The Swiss can dip or cut their cheese
It's a matter of what you please
Bread crust drowned in gruyere fondue
Raclette cheese scrapped gooey for you

Armenian cheese twisted braid
Cottage or cream cheese softly made
India Paneer...Feta from Greece
Gubben, Gouda...Limburger cheese

And last of all you will agree
All the cheese from Italy
Marscarpone..Provolone
Gorgonzola..Grana Padano

Romano...Caciocavollo
Ricotta...Burrato
Parmigiano Reggione
Wine, women and Pax Romana

When your finished tasting all
Step over to my neighbor's stall
Fruits all grown with the greenest thumb
With special rates on the dried plums!

It must be World Cheese Day today. Two elaborate poems with cheese and its numerous varieties as its subject have crossed my eyes. The second poem is by s, jaynub kamoonpuri. Yours is also a fine masterpiece. Thanks for sharing.
