Chewing Gum Poem by SOPHIE MAYES

Chewing Gum

I often sit and think
And ponder if thinking is worthwhile
As the things I often think of
I could be doing now

I'm continuously battling
The thoughts within my head
I'm intrigued by the language
That is so easily said

A monolouge of words
Flowing freely through the mouth
The mind is clearly spoken
Without worry or self doubt

My mind is forever flowing
Yet the mouth is taped shut
I fear the thoughts I do not say
shall rot away my guts
