Chewing Stocks Poem by Abby Kimball

Chewing Stocks

Things should be better now,
Even though,
I don’t think they will be,
I know they won’t be,

You noticed the different colours of the leaves,
But you didn’t hear them change,
Like we did
That’s usually how it goes,
We all know it,

And we’re just gum,
Gum stuck to the bottom,
Of your shoes,
Such a bother,
To peel,
Off like glue,
And we’re sorry,
Sorry to be such a bother,
To you,

But there is a genius next door,
Who never gets credit,
There is a scene that plays in my head,
But you won’t get it,
So all I have to offer you is this,
Good grades and the promise that you won’t be missed,

Please don’t ruin our empire,
Please don’t ruin my son,
It’s getting down to the wire,
I think we should all just run,

And we’re just gum,
Gum stuck to the bottom,
Of your shoes,
Such a bother,
To peel,
Off like glue,
And we’re sorry,
Sorry to be such a bother,
To you,

We are the future,
The future of what? X5
