Childhood Poem by Ian Payne Payne

Childhood

Rating: 5.0

It is days like this
which bring to mind
days long past
Of times more beautiful and innocent,
of childhood's fairest days
Days carefree and beautiful
where the world seemed to beckon with golden gleam
setting my young feet to wander
In woods and meadows and by stream.

These days I wish I could recapture
the wonder of those years
But childhood's beauty and innocence have fled
with time
And time is the enemy of youth

Those days I can now only look upon
with awe and wonder
And wish the same for children to come.
