Children Poem by Bill Dureen

Children

Children in distant lands
Children with dirty hands
Clothing torn, hunger strong
Yearning for a happier song

Show them the way to go
Teach them what they should know
Help them now, don't hesitate
Give them love, don't make them wait

Then they'll grow, like every boy and girl
To be ready for a place out in the world

Children that hide away
Frightened by light of day
Bodies frail, tired and weak
Full of pain, afraid to speak

Tell them how much you care
Offer them dreams to share
Understand, urge them on
They need hope to build upon

Then they'll grow, like every boy and girl
To be ready for a place out in the world...
