Chilka Poem by Prafulla Sahu

Chilka

The ocean in mini skirt
Dipped in blue
Speckled fishes crabs in net
Birds alien flying in gay
Dotted with islets
Boats, ferries and launches
Small’s beautiful-
Nature’s doll.

Her rippling steps
Serpentine hair
Shiny temple
Blinking eyes
Make me hop
Like quadruped uncle.

I stretched my hands
To catch in vain,
Only drops of saline
Fell like tear.
Unbound like water
Vast like the sky
Untouched like horizon…
Deity?
I cursed imagination
So human and limited
To confine the divine
In a doll or deity.
