Chinese New Year (Rat Year Living Rat Life) Poem by U Win Kyi

Chinese New Year (Rat Year Living Rat Life)

In chinese zodiac,2008 is year of rat,
but good fortune is the thing one cannot expect,
because water and earth are in conflict and clash,
as the Feng Shuie master said.
Financial tumbling and political rumbling will be like loud thunder,
followed by the epidemics and tsunamis as natural disaster.
So human life will be not easy,
so also rat life will be difficult and misery.
News are that in Vietnam, man will develop new rat-killing technique,
and in Malaysia, man put bounty of 20 ringitts,
for each and every rat,
caught alive or dead.
In the West, rats are sneered at as filth,
but in the East, they are revered as anthropomorphic characteristic,
of amassing wealth, charm and wit.

In this work place, the workers are living the life of rat,
cos the Big Brother Boss is like a cat,
roaming and sneaking in order to catch,
those lazy easy-goers and those having a nap.
Once caught, he will surely be sacked.
In front of the boss, they all well-behaved,
otherwise, 'You are FIRED! ' is the thing he must face,
so helpless in that rat-race.
When the boss is away for business trip,
the workers are happy partying wild and big.
They really look like rat in many ways,
except they don't have any tail.
