Christmas Tree Poem by ERNEST CLARY

Christmas Tree

Rating: 5.0

Here I am standing in a forest of trees
along came a man with axe in hand and children to please
he wacked away at my trunk leaving chips of me on the ground
I fell with compense making a swishing sound
he drug me along a little trail
at this point my fate didnt look so well
the wind was rustling my branches on top of the car
I hoped I didnt have to go too far
now im decorated with tinsel and lights that glow
not much left for me but to be part of the show
all lit up standing in my brace of steel
no one knowing the pain i feel
im still green but will soon be brown
just a few days till they take me down
and fleece me of the ornaments that are now my crown
who knows where I will go from here
perhaps alongside a road where travelers can take one last peer
dont get all choked up and cry for me
I enjoyed making the kids happy
being their christmas tree
