Church Bells Poem by Gina Plain

Church Bells

</>The tolls of bells, in the valley they spread,
Calling people to come, come, come,
Loud, deep, like the Word of God at the altar read
The sound washes both the mind and soul
The Words are preached by the priest in white

The tolls of bells, in the valley they echo,
Calling people to come, come, come
Soft, hollow, like the sound of a departing soul
The sound goes up and reaches heaven
Roses are dropped by the people in black

The tolls of bells, in the valley they ripple
Calling people to come, come, come,
Joyful, merry, like the sound of cheering people
The sound proclaims the power of love
A bouquet is thrown by the bride in white

The tolls of bells, in the valley they resound,
Calling people to pray, pray, pray,
Sincere, faithful, like the sound of prayers around
The sound soars to the land of Eden
Hush...prayers are led by the nuns in black
