City Of Night

Sweet breeze,
Calming lays ahead,
As the rain that falls,
Cools my face,
And I sit,
Sit on the curb of light,
In the city of night,
I could never really smile,
For the darkness has taken over,
But I still have my memories,
My memories of heaven,
Of the angels that sang,
For all the others,
For I used to be perfect,
In the light of others,
I can still see the joyful streets,
In this city of night,
That fell onto the smiling souls,
But now left abandoned,
Left for no one to see,
I sit here and smile through my tears,
I don’t understand,
Why the world seems to know,
When to leave the darkness with my false glow,
I look past,
Past the shadows
The shadows of the buildings placed,
Placed in perfect order,
Across the sea,
A soul reaching back for me.
