Cliff Hanger Poem by David R.

Cliff Hanger

Let's act like we're on a boat
together.

You sit on the edge and let your feet
feel the sting of everything I am beneath you.
Let your hair down, no pins or bands. Feel the
sun for once and smile like it's a good thing.
When the wind picks up, let it ransack
your locks, let it molest your scalp and know
that sort of molestation is a good thing. Don't
ask me to sit down, because if I do, I might just
touch you in places I shouldn't- your mouth
being last, because it's frightening to think about
our tongues together.

Or I might just push you off and wave,
while you hold your breath and allow yourself
to sink, hoping the savior swallows you
in the form of some big fish.
