Clouds And Cigarettes Poem by Caleb Ampadu

Clouds And Cigarettes

today i thought of an idea.

an idea wherein everything becomes

so unearthly when you're staring into

the milkiness of the clouds.

this mushy emotion i feel while staring

at the clouds. they're just like

water, moving, serenading and

calming our nerves. touching

it and slipping through our fingers.

as you lit the cigarette

sometimes you hear that crunchy burning sound.

woozy yet fulfilling feels by the end

of your first stick. inhale then

exhaling the smoke.

i have this ruling feeling that

whenever i step onto my finished cigarette,

i feel that i have somewhat stepped

on all the fears i have n life.

clouds and cigarettes may not have things in common

but there's this sense when you feel longing

and misty. clouds merge with each other

then the smoke fuse around your lungs,

and feel how the light gets in.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
when i was lying on the floor while i gaze at the horizon above me. watched the clods merged together while i smoke a cigarette.
