Coal Miner’s Daughter’s Daughter Poem by Marilyn Lott

Coal Miner’s Daughter’s Daughter

Rating: 5.0

She’s the Coal Miner’s Daughter’s daughter
And what a joy Cissy was to meet
She gave us smiles and hugs so freely
So open and friendly and sweet

We chatted with her about Loretta
How hard the business is these days
Her music isn’t so popular any more
Lord, we hope it’s merely a faze

For the doors Loretta opened for women
In the country music world, you know
Date back many countless years
That allowed so many changes to grow

Cissy talked about her childhood
With a mom and friends so famous
Such as Patsy and so many others
How exciting it seems to us

We took each other’s picture
With this sweet and unassuming gal
We’ll treasure our pictures always
She’d be a loyal and special pal

We bought a CD and picture
Of Cissy and her handsome man
She asked if I wanted her to sign it
And of course we said “thank you ma’am”

Cissy is a wonderful singer as well
And we bought her music from her store
She gave us her mailing address
We’d sure like to see her once more

When we pass through Hurricane Mills
A tiny place in Tennessee
Cissy is one of the people
We will certainly dropp in to see!
