Coda's Truth Poem by Alex Lane

Coda's Truth

Where I belong
is the high note of the song
epiphanies of memories gone
The sound of drums
hypnotizing everyone
others are statues without the sun
my dark winter
is the flow of the river
whose bluest waters cause my shivers
I see snow melt
seasons give way and I felt
only hope for the promises held
It's Monday tomorrow
it's work I'd better go
it's okay even though
I have to shut down all illogical programs
because I'm supposed to be a man
Something definable
someone reliable
I'm caught in a bustle
of people wanting money for their services
while I try to figure out what love is
No one else has a clue
as to what it puts me through
I'm forced to be true
because truth is my greatest immovable object
against god's death resurrect

Where I began
was the old city of man
It kept great minds that built the last plan
Their conclusion
all things come from confusion
they will order before destruction
Down in the pits
the dirtiness makes you sick
our society as we know it
I can ruin
dug up for my darkest sin
losing and being made to give in
I wasn't made to fall
I must answer the call
but stay outside the halls
I decide fate and destiny without care
this is my post-modern version of prayer
...
I AM AMPLITUDE
at it's loudest
any further off the dial
and I would self-destruct
slipping comfortably into my own reality
I stand at the gap I created
wishing back some of the bridges I burned
I caused confusion by pushing away companions
because I wanted the spotlight to myself
Trust me, remember who your friends are...

Sudden aspiration
to become something else
to warp out of my skin to suffocate myself
I swear to help you out
if you swear not to tell
I change my life to win
and to change you as well
Inside revelations I trusted Fury's word
and he took a part of me
to awaken songbirds
And no one came to my aid
you tell no-one what you heard
and nothing can save me when
I have nothing of that worth

Slowly I sink
in the depths
in the depths.
