Collateral Damage Poem by Jayne Doe

Collateral Damage

Caught between the crossfire
Of my heart and of my mind,
Trust me when I say
You're merely collateral damage
To the lies I like to tell myself.
It's not you who has to think I'm well
But me who must believe
That the okay which I claim to be,
Is a goal still out of reach.
