Freedom!
From what?
From governments which dictate what we can and cannot do?
From strangers who judge us without knowing who we are?
From friends who stomp on our wings and then ask us to fly?
From family with expectations no one could reach?
From mother?
Father?
Sister?
Brother?
Nay.
That's not real freedom.
We need freedom from ourselves.
Freedom from the parts that tell us we can't when we can.
Freedom from those preconceived notions which hinder our growth.
Freedom from formed habits,
difficult to break
keeping us in the same spaces
as we run circles with who we are
But never branch out to anything new.
Freedom from the parts of us that let us believe others can break us,
As if they have the power to decide who we are
And what we are worth.
Freedom from the parts of us that allows slurs and insults to ring true with us
As if they could possibly be the truths we've been looking for.
Freedom from the doubt, uncertainty, insecurity, anger, sadness, mistrust, disgust, sorrow and all those other feelings that stop us from being what we need.
We need freedom from the one thing standing between who we are now and who we can be-
Freedom from ourselves.
'From governments which dictate what we can and cannot do? From strangers who judge us without knowing who we are? From friends who stomp on our wings and then ask us to fly? From family with expectations no one could reach? ' beautiful, first freedom is from ourselves, feel free be liberated 10+
