Come Try Again Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Come Try Again

To Peter, Christ was heard to say
“Take heed this word to you
When you return to walk my way
Strengthen the others too! ”

Yet some would say who’ve heard the call
In Christ I’m born anew
I’m saved by grace and cannot fall
No matter what I do

Such dangerous words are Satan’s tools
The devil’s cunning snare
For who, can break The Father’s rules
And think He wouldn’t care?

When Christ’s elect; may even fail
Not few may come to ruin
Once more they’ll land in Satan’s jail
When God begins to prune

Not even Christ; could break the law
Sinless! He’d still to die
No shame, can enter Heaven’s door
No darkness dwell on high

With wisdom’s dawn we understand
Though spirits may be strong
The flesh needs Jesus’ guiding hand
To help when things go wrong

Be not afraid, nor filled with pride
Grow humble and remain
Seek Jesus now, become His bride
Receive of Heaven’s rain

Be no one’s fool and live deceived
Rebuild on solid ground
Return to Christ and be received
The second time around
