Common Sense Always Prevails Poem by Hebert Logerie

Common Sense Always Prevails

When something is rotten and stinky
We’d have to be dumb and crazy
To keep it in front of our lawn
As a banner at dusk or at dawn;

We quickly get rid of it.

If the front of the house is well decorated
With beautiful trees, plants and flowers
The neighbors, even out of jealousy, are elated
To congratulate, send good wishes, and honors;

We wholeheartedly appreciate it.

If a flag stands for: slavery, bigotry
Injustice, racism, white supremacy
Violence, intolerance, hatred
Division, cruelty, and apartheid;

We must quickly take it down.

Common sense always prevails
Nonsense crawls but eventually fails
This world belongs to you and me
Even when you and I disagree.

We either accept that fact with a smile or with a frown.
