Comprendre La Vitesse Poem by R.S. Farris

Comprendre La Vitesse

when you live your life too quickly,
you react as in a daze-
your reflexes are tested
as you stumble through the haze,

trying to see a pattern in the
blur that's rushing by;
you try to focus fully,
but the mist gets in your eyes:

it would be nice to talk to someone
wiser than yourself,
but you don't have time to think of what to say

...

when you live your life too slowly,
your enthusiasm goes
away; your mind slows with it,
and you feel that no one knows

all the thoughts you're thinking through,
the spinnings in your head-
you're tired of overthinking,
and wish you could act instead:

you don't get any further from the
place where you began
by analyzing every thought you have

...

come and take a walk with me
beneath the long-set sun-
i need a quiet stroll, and
you have caught the urge to run...

Nice! What a great way to reach the ol' twenty-first, I must say. Your thoughts are captured so well here... and I've always admired this rhythm. So, is this the end of Farris, or will there be more?

This one goes with '...I can make him smile' (Muffy' s poem) . The rhythm (same here as in the first one) actually comes from a Belle & Sebastien song which has been in my head for months.
