Confusion Poem by mark glaser

Confusion

There once was a tomato,
Who thought it was a potato,
The tomato called itself Hal,
But its actual uncooked name was Sal.
The tomato thought itself to male,
But potato looked female.
So it decided to go to war,
And what it saw,
Was stew made with both?
The fruit and vegetable thought about becoming yeast,
So it went to ask advice from a Priest.
The Priest said yeast won’t meet,
What’s you’re thinking in your seat.
Keep what you know,
Seek what you sowed.
If both the tomato and potato knew what they had,
Neither would ever be sad.
