Constrictions Constructed Poem by Nyx C Styx

Constrictions Constructed

We live in a world by constrictions constructed
And they teach us how and whom to love,
that is, if they teach us to love at all.

Does it make me a harlot?
that all it took was your smile to make me
love you?

We live in a world by constrictions constructed
I have lived honeydew days with you
and can taste no other sweetness

So the wise and the old, and those who do not believe in love
make bare by back and brand me with the hot iron seal
'Here is a madwoman'
And the wise and the old, and those who do not believe in love
crack open the mind and lobotomize the thoughts
and memories of love and you, from me.
but the wise and the old, and those who do not believe in love
did not know that love resides within the chambers
of the heart in which they disbelieved

In this world by constrictions constructed
I feel no constraints, having sipped
a whisper of freedom

The man who becometh blind endures
knowing he knows the sunrise view
