Consumed Poem by Raj Arumugam

I'm thinking of writing
an inspirational book
since I'm constantly being winked at
by the ads that appear on the side
of the webpage I frequent

But I don't have the inspiration
to write the inspirational book
and so apt ads start appearing on the side:
"Read Inspirational Books"

So I buy all the inspirational books
(spend a fortune really, which surely
must inspire those writers
to write more inspirational books)
and I read all of them

but at the end I am so exhausted
(emotionally and financially)
I cannot find inspiration
to write my inspirational books
for the ages, for all time


But I hear an inspirational voice
from up the skies say:

All is never lost

If you can't write,
keep reading
If you can't create,
keep consuming
If you can't make money
keep spending
