Content With You Poem by Jasmine Williams

Content With You

Rating: 4.0

On my darkest day in May
Our paths converged a dissimilar way
I too, enamored by the demon in view
He had taken from me what he took from you
I walked amongst the world in shame
Consumed by jealousy, a child's game
Beaten by life's hard hand in vain
I held my head and stifled my pain
Nightmares plague my vision still
Opened wounds have ceased to heal
I long for the day I cannot feel
Captivated by unsavory appeals
Until we met, that fortunate day
An iceberg of pain melted away
It was there, I felt a tremor of trust
Surrounded by the demons of dusk
I knew I would find a way through
Content in the darkness, content with you
