Contented Child Poem by Neil Graham Marsden

Contented Child

One tiny heart beats softly in the room across the way,
a sleep now fuelled by kindness that has graced her world today.
On lightning steeds she rides to worlds imagined by pure mind
watched over by soft moonlight and by love left here behind.

As dreams descend our gentle soul sails forth into the night
and only happy memories and laughter stain her sight,
her love the only tokens to that playground in the skies
where innocence is plenty in a world where no-one cries.

Here wishes are all granted on one day that has no end
and every face in paradise will queue to be her friend.
This land where smiling faces are dress order of the day,
where caring arms catch children who get lost along the way.
