Contrition Poem by Uriah Hamilton

Contrition

Have you ever needed
to show true contrition?
Have you met someone
on a desolate, lonely street at dusk
in the soft and sympathetic rain
and confessed your infidelities?

Sometimes you can't spare yourself any abuse,
you have to come clean no matter how despicable the truth!

Normally, it leaves you abandoned again
beneath the moon in a friendless place
but you can't carry on forever a cruel charade
toward someone you've claimed to love.
