Cooke City Poem by Michael Pruchnicki

Cooke City

tanka/haiku - No matter how much one may seek to extinguish one's feelings, the simplest observation of nature will deeply move precisely the sort of person who tries to 'abandon this world of illusion.'

grasshopper glacier
above the tree line
climbing- thin air and sunlight
granite peaks and pink snow-
ice and stone relentlesss this high

in big sky country
beartooths and mystic lakes-
wilderness beckons
