Corruption Poem by Bhakta Raj Giri

Corruption

Law fails
Injustice rules,
Fools rejoice
Wise Suffers.
Morality quits
Money governs,
Light fades
Darkness engulfs.
Own mother kicked out
But adopted, in,
Undiscerned to recognize
Between holy and sin.
Pious hearts break
Perfidious breeds
Majority subjugated
Few elevated.
Development freezes
Starvation booms,
Nation cries
But citizen never thinks.

Oh how deeply do I understand the emotions in this poem. In my country, the USA, it has particularly important meaning. I don't know if you live in the USA or elsewhere, but often have I felt similar horror and disgust at the apathy of the citizens, the lawlessness and corruption of our lawmakers, and the illegal wars we foolishly run headlong into here in America. Your poem very concisely and very effectively translates these emotions I have just explained, beautifully written, and gets to the point with poetic perfection.
