My friends affirm that I am an adept at cooking fish, flawlessly,
although my spouse disagrees, vehemently.
She claims I always overdo the cooking,
but I find them just right, without any mistaking.
I prefer mine crispy, she likes them tender,
our opinions differ, but we won't surrender.
So, we struck a deal, as all great partners do,
I'll cook them her way, and she'll cook them mine (too) .
Together we'll experiment, and hopefully, (we'll find)
a method to prepare fish that pleases our combined mind.
We have been endeavoring for past two decades or so,
but haven't reached anywhere to resolve our woe.
As soon as you become husband and wife these things comes up and bone of contention can be any silly thing.
Poetic Sky, You sound like you've experienced it. Good luck. I'm 'on wife # 4; tell me about contention! ! ! : )
Ha ha ha. I think it could be. You shouldn't try not to avoid and fight for your rights.
Asim, I plan to put this poem into my June 2023 Showcase of PH poems I share with members. bri ;)
Nice poem! You both are trying not to allow a small contention to snowball into larger one.A great effort to keep marital harmony intact.
Whole story is Fishy, Yes, it is a fictitious poem, but you are familiar with its theme, especially after a few years of marriage, don't you?

True, Yes, it is a fictitious poem, but you are familiar with its theme, especially after a few years when you begin to criticize the food and she has the chance to contradict you.
