Court Poem by Marcel Aouizerate

Court

Terrible things
Have happened to us:
We lost soul and all.
We cried our fear in a lull,
We raged a great fuss,
Using knife and doll,
Feared many while so doing,
And put it back in haste
Where it came from.
But we've never been
Closer to thee than
In the courtroom
That is, we've never been
Further away from
An explanation
For our doom.
