Cove Poem by Corvette Nezumi Mikazuki

Cove

I stand firm in an open field
A group of friends:
Friends which are fake
Friends which are real,
Friends which will rise
Friends which will fall

They sit around me in a circle
I’m blindfolded
I trust in what they’ll do
Some steal
Some give
Others protect
Others guide

Suddenly,
I enter my own world
Everything that was stolen was missing
Everything that was given was added
This world was entwined with reality!

I explore the wonders of this world
I enter a dark cave
The fog was blended with pale darkness
My heart races
I’m falling
The gravitational wind forced against me
I hit the floor
“stay calm…”
A faint voice whispers to me

With a glimpse of light in the dense fog
Hallucinations flutter the cove
My eyes wonder
I loose control of my body;
it wonders
“Don’t worry…”
The same soft voice whimpers

I fall to the floor
I regain control of my own body,
Standing up, I look around
Images of forgotten memories are reviled
A tear breaks from my eye
I chase the memory tell it fades...
I fall to my knees in tears...

They remove my blindfold
I was all teary eyed
Few bothered to ask what had happened
I ponder what had happened
What was the point?
Why did it happen the way it did?
All I could ask were questions with no answers
Left again and again, asking
What’s the point?
