Cover Up Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Cover Up

Cover up

Among books on my shelves
-one of them is named "Faith."
-Was published in those days…

Its author was murdered
-and became a martyr
-for ruling government,
- (bloody vampires…)

I pick it, smiled, laughed
-thinking of why I bought.

Bought it when was fired
-to be "Ex-officer" of ‘Air Force.'

Needed to restart
-if received that amount

That is what not happened!

I received a letter instead,
-too short and handwritten
- "Go to court…";
-got address and went there;
- (The-Rev-Court, Moallem.)

Body search and guidance
-ended where they had meant.

I wore my flight-suit…
-with pocket for pencil
-on left arm and small.

There, I kept some bullets.
-for a cause and reason.

VIPs, bodyguards
-had pistols and/or guns.

We collected weapons
-either guns or bullets.

Those bullets in pocket
-meant to serve a purpose.
-for sake of being safe.

When heading to the court
-I removed all of them
-left them in vehicle
- (the backseat of taxi)
-which drove to take me.

From then, feel guilty!

I was led to a seat
-by the door, in waiting;
-entrance behind me.

Eye to eye he and me
- (I saw that mass of shit)
-worked as judge, and police.

Bearded and dirty
-unaware, possibly,
-reminded me of the
-a jackal when hunting!

Heard of voice to my right
-carefully turned around.
-Breathless, a young man,
-guess, suffered a tough run.

"Will tell you everything! "
-he said and made me laugh
-soundlessly. just crack
-of my lips; eyes flashed;
-heart of court was filthy!

The so-called judge noticed
-my face, when smiling…

Therefore, he questioned me:
-what is so laughable?
-court or me?

The poor guy was either
-used as bate to catch me
-or involved in something
-that I was aware of,
-but never part of it.

I knew my colleagues
-had managed to fly or hijack
-a plane, a Boing…

In it the head of MKO
-as well as president.
-They fled to Paris…

As friends and colleagues
-together we had lived;
-for quite many years.

Though opposed Bani-Sadr
-once we met and shook hand.

I made a comment and
-spelled words that could have
-turned to noose for my neck.

The man was weary and
-breathless he mentioned:
- "Will tell you about it…"

The person that he named
-was one of my friends
- (crew for Hercules)
-on the night of escape
-he, a guard, officer.

Started the questions to answer
-no right to a call or a lawyer
-forcefully I had to sign papers…

"Go, return in a month…"
-I was told and then left.

I was charged "dislike of government, "
- "Rejecting the mullahs as leaders, "
-and also "cursing some preachers."

I had said:
-as was told and I heard
- (which was right, I had said :)
- "Mullahs act as did men
-when died, left prophet! "

So, I was against the
-Islamic government;
-yes, I was and remain.

With such words left my fate
-to become a nothing but charade!

It is said, and rightly, about the politics
- "When Revolts win, succeed,
-always eat their babies, best of kids."

That happened in Iran
-in Nineteen-Seventy-Nine.

Somebody had set bomb
-in college, turned to what
-was used as the base of
- "Islamic Republic"
- (The paper and Party.)

I gave them no place
-when I was in power.

So, I could, possibly
-be with foes, enemies,
-patron to the bombing
-if not, one supporter!

How they rushed to judgment
-and were wrong, as always,
-they didn't look in depth
-to me and to my way.

I was and will remain
-deeply a peace-lover
-never was nor wanted
-hurting one, to injure
-those close or against.

But pen was in their hands
-and most laws were trash
-and the courts had speed
-in judging and killing;
- (See Sadiq Khalkhali!)

I also could become
-a murdered-innocent
-for causing a terror
-in opposed, to silence.

Time was tough and Iran
-was boiling with blood
-of many officers, generals!

As father and husband
-had to find us the way
-to live, be respected.

In court of second time
-they told me, quite soft:
- "We know you."

Forgave me Khomeini
-same was with the living
-six months jail, minimum
-because of Behshti!

I had lived in open
No, to hiding, cover.

They could have known as well
-since spoke clear…

Love Islam only when
-my father's, Bazargan's.

They believed and declared
- "Islam goes with wisdom,
-not mimicked nor copied
-from the dumb mullahs.

Was not yet forty but
-had seen and read a lot.

Had been in politics
-both open and hiding…

The core of my thoughts was
- "Live freed, progress."

Never was nationalist
-in way of the racists.

I like all, equal
Lor and Kurd, Azari
The Baluch and Tazi
White, greasy black,
Andeans, Africans
Every faith and belief.

But the court of dogma
-couldn't see, was blind
- "Either in or outside! "

I could not and cannot
-obey that sort of law
-so, became homeless;
-had to find some place
-to be safe, as shelter.

Was running from wolf
-fell in hands of other
-soft, clean and sweet
-wolf in the sheepskin.

When on run, displaced
-the exiled and homeless
-are in the worst dangers! ! !
Promised me a band
-to take me, fly out,
-be settled in London
-to become manger
-of sort of franchise
-in Dubai and Tehran;
-head office in Europe.

Nothing worked in that way!
I became a pigeon
Cut my wings and feather!

At same time came vulture!

Having gone far, beyond
-I know of others, caught
-displaced, refuged and exiled
-by the wars, any cause
-by the man or natural.

Feel colours, backgrounds
-Lebanon, Latino, Cuba's
-to Hind-o-Pakistan, to Iraq
-to Tutsis and Hutus, Syria
-most of all Yemenis
-and of course, Palestine!

I know them, sympathize
-am with them, empathize
-since I am one of them…

And the book on my shelf
- (One of two, that purchased,)
-was sort of camouflage
- (to cover myself as…)
-I needed to do so to escape.

How wish had not happened!
To such life, better, death.

Uprooted if tree
-it becomes like rock
-nothing worth to count on.

When rock is in flood
-damages; badly harms.

Refuge is always
-the worst that can happen
-to any creature.

Refuge is danger
-to the self and others
-since it kills self-respect
-chokes pride and shatters.

Therefore, I damn the ones
-in power, as main cause
-of such harms being done.

Worst, at time, is Trump
-look at what he has done
-he loaded many guns
-he has put the stones
-in slings to throw…
