Back then, very young and vibrant
Minds so sharp and free
Times we didn't care about money
Days were sweeter than honey.
Parents told us they were broke to buy us toys
We had to sit and think like boys
Creativity came in, cars made of wire
plastic balls (chikulunga) molded with fire
Creativity grew fast
Embracing everything new leaving the past
As adversity gave birth to creativity
In the days we didn't know the University
We created wonderful games
From Phada to Bawo, Jingo to Ndado
Yes, it is because we had no toys
nor video games
It was all creativity in adversity
See, creativity comes in adversity
But university has taught us diversity
Of our creative minds to rigidity
Suddenly, we became so afraid of adversity
And chose no creativity
But just to follow rigid commands of bosses
if it were back then with our creative minds
Some could have come with an alternative to fuel
Inflation would drop and economy would do well
But fear of adversity has brought no creativity
but conformity to the adversity, unknowingly#creativity

A well articulated and nicely penned poem. I like the way you put up your argument. Thanks for sharing. Please have a look at my poem #409 MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON.
