Crumpet Poem by Mike Berriman

Crumpet

When I'm away I do not stray
I save myself for homecoming day
Temptation sometimes cast my way
And when I get home I have crumpet.

I travel far and travel wide
Work with debutants side by side
I work on my own with certain pride
And when I get home I have crumpet.

As I drive I wear a smile
My trip reducing mile by mile
My pulse quickening all the while
And when I get home I have crumpet.

Closer now, not far to go
Tales to tell, so much to know
Hard to control my nerves below
And when I get home I have crumpet

Now my spouse a perfect host
Of my prowess she may boast
Brekkie is served, do you want toast
No, all I want is crumpet!
