Cure Poem by Palitha Ranatunge

Cure

Virus, the most deadly name
Before the eyes of our human world
Who has set new rules for evolution?
Who has set new rules for human destiny?
Darwin didn't you foresee this Karma
Of us, the unseen savior of the earth
The green earth of the others.
You are a ghost to our eyes
But you a ruthless killing machine
You may be a messenger sent
By a supreme alien life form, God.
Hundreds of fictions written
Dozens of sci fi movies produced
Foretelling your deadly arrival
May be you intend to wipe out
Us from the surface of earth
But I assume you won't hurt
Ancient traditional aboriginal tribes
Who still dwell unseen to us
Deep in thickest jungle treks
Live with fullest harmony.
Modern sophisticated humans
Obviously may have sinned for
Their extinction before you.
I confess science is nothing but
Devil's art to manipulate us
To create monsters among us
Demolish symmetry of life forms
On, within and above the earth,
Our most Ill-treated mother.
Today she is sad for this severe
Punishment imposed on many
Innocents of us who have done
Nothing but remained ignorant.
All must go she whispers,
Let heaven or hell to welcome us,
There will be ample storage space
Therein to repent.
Or we may be reincarnated after
A long voyages after many a sound
rehabilitation programs!
