Âdan Poem by Gbolagade Taiwo

Âdan

Rating: 5.0

Adan, a bird of the after world
Vigilance is her works
God looks heaven for her while she's looking at the earth
A never walk alone bird
Always in the company of friends
She is never a barren bird
Her house is always full of offsprings
She goes to work in the morning
In the dusk, she returns home
Always living her life like a woman
She carries her child on her back,
Takes her on a picnic
Âdan, a strange bird in the world of birds.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Adan is the yoruba name given to 'BAT'. It is seen as a bird that is different from other birds due to the way she position herself while standing on the wing of a tree. Other birds stand on a tree with their legs facing the earth, but, Âdan will never do like that. She stands with her legs facing the heaven.

Something I didn't know about the Bat, a great poem.
