Danger Personified Poem by Megan Haskins

Danger Personified

I don't know what it is about you,
but you're Danger Personified.
I don't love you.
God no.
Fiend.

You know why I can't see you anymore?
Because you lead me astray
you bring out the worst in me.
In your black car.
In your mouth.

I don't feel safe on our mid-black dark-night drives
far from it
I feel nervous, queesy, anxious,
'scared
sexy? '

I don't know how you have this power over me
no one has had this before.
I hunt for you up and down the down
in my night dress.
Obsession
or L*ve?

You say you love me,
I don't believe it though
I bet you say it to all the girls
but now we don't speak,
not a word

Last you said to me,
'I'm twenty-six now
ready to settle down'
I bet you are.
Prison has that effect.

But I'm 18, whole life ahead of me
wonderful boyfriend, university prospects.
And that is why, Danger,
we don't talk no more.
