A Poem Of Leaving Poem by Megan Haskins

A Poem Of Leaving

Rating: 3.5

As the sun shines down on the day
I look out my window
And the frost sparkles dance on the lawn.
It's a pretty sight indeed
A perfect photographic moment
But I can't wait to get miles away from here

I need to save for my plane ticket
I leave for America in September
But will I make it through the summer?
With work and college
Politics through and through
I need someone to run away with. Tonight.

We'd pack our bags and leave this town tonight
We could jump in the car and drive
Anywhere you would like to go
Lands end? John O Groats?
The world is our oyster
And we leave tonight.

We don't need money
We'll pay with love and dreams where ever we go
Or we won't go
We won't stop
We'll drive off into the stars
And not stop until we hit the moon.

What do you mean you have work tomorrow?
A commitment to take care of?
I thought you wanted to dropp the rat race
And be free
I thought you wanted to sail into the night
Like shooting stars.

So i'll go by myself
I'll leave this all behind and call you from the other side
When I am up a mountain in morning dew
And I'll do as I said, pay in love and dreams
You'll see my friends,
You'll see
