Dark Silver Poem by Gayatri Palande

Dark Silver

Rating: 4.0

Upon the darkest of steeds riding
The moonlight form him nothing  hiding.
His black  armour shone
Scratches of the recent battles on his chest a ghostly white glowed.

Of all the vicious beasts they'd slain
Dark Silver was the real game.
T'was a beast of  savage blood
With it's scales darker than red mud.

As they neared the cave
The atmosphere was such that  shook even the brave.
Nowhere any life grew
Neither over it any birds ever flew.

The dragon crawled out of his cave
And an ear spitting roar gave.
Flames poured out of his cruel mouth
Shook the earth all about.

The fearless knight
Challenged this fearsome beast to fight.
Dark Silver slashed out with a claw,
Which hit the poor steed the knight was on.

 Nearby lay his dead steed
How he wished that time would freeze.
Remembering all the fights they'd been through
On his steed's blood that dragon he swore to slew.

Raising his sword high in the air
Ran towards the dragon with courage rare.
He cut through the creature's fore leg
The creature let out a howl the whole country for years would dread.

Grabbing the knight in it's mouth
The vile reptile swung him about
Crashing at the cave's start
Wishing he could give up and let the beast have his heart.

All was for his beautiful mademoiselle
Remembering that beautiful belle.
Gave the  strength to his wounded body to raise
And slash at the cruel beast with his blade

With a final roar,
The hideous creature crashed on the floor.
the sharp blade stabbed deep into his heart
Removing the sword the knife tore the dragon's stomach apart.

Completing his promise to his bethroed
Now he would return home.
To her and his mother
Fulfilling the promise made to her father.
