Darkness Poem by Dillon Crawford

Darkness

This silence that always awaits for me
I turn for help, yet no one is there.
I look right, left and right again hoping;
Hoping someone might jump out that this will be over;
But all I see is darkness

I am guilty of naught, but misfortune.
In this world of mine, I have been guilty until proven innocent.
I look to the sky and wonder why?
I have long stopped praying for a better tomorrow;
for if there was such a god why would he give me my today?
I look to the clouds to see what is to come;
But all I see is darkness.

I see no gap in these dark cloudy ridden times
and so, I embrace it;
Darkness has become my life.
Old friends and family pass me by,
No longer am I deserving of even that second glance.
For no longer am I human, deserving and wanted.
I live by today and today is a new day.
I wake up in the morning
and look at myself in the mirror;
But all I see is darkness.
