Darkness Poem by Brandon Shadows

The darkness seems to follow me…I walk as my shadow. I'm taken away from the light…the places which I know. I live a life of pain, where darkness is my friend. I suffer every day…does it ever end? The darkness is my home, a place where I reside. The darkness is my shelter, a place in which I hide. The darkness seems to follow me…it is my only light. My heart is black, my soul is gray, my life gets darker every day…my darkness if my life. The darkness seems to follow me, it is my only light…but deep within my blackened heart a candle shines so bright. I'm burning on the inside; it seems I'm all alone. Only my darkness helps me now…the only one I know. I'm alive yet I feel so dead…why do I live my life ahead? I hope one day my body ignites…my flesh exploding into light. I know I'll win if I put up a fight…I see a small flicker of light.
