Darling Poem by Richard Trembath

Darling

If she says ‘I answer to ‘Darling', '
That sure has to be a good sign
Especially if I can't remember her name
And she can't remember mine.

It happens when least you expect it
When the first word you think of is ‘WOW'
And you know that you want to pursue her
But the obvious question is ‘How? '

Then your eyes lock for one fleeting moment,
Just a moment, but frozen in time,
And you feel the world changing around you,
Then you glance back and look for a sign.

And you realise she's looking straight at you,
On her mouth just a hint of a smile,
So you think that it's now or it's never,
With your heart beating fast all the while.

As you take your first brave steps towards her
She comes to meet you halfway
And the world melts to mist all around you:
All your life you'll remember this day.
