David Had His Faith Poem by Gary James Smith

David Had His Faith

Rating: 5.0

David Had His Faith

David had his faith in God
In the youthfulness of his day
And found it an ever present help
When problems came his way
He slew a lion and a bear
No small achievement then
Showing his strength in the power of God
In whom he knew as a Friend

His heart was thankful continually
God was preparing this lad
To be a leader and a King
The best King Israel ever had
He even forgave his enemies
Not a small task to do
But when your heart is right with God
His blessings will follow you

Was but but a lad
That came to the battle that day
Built up by a faith in God
Who was David's main Stay
When Goliath looked with disgust
And mocked him to the ten
He didn't have the slightest clue
How swift his demeaning would end

One small stone in a sling
That God had marked for destination
Honoring the faith of David's faith
And sealing Goliath's damnation
Hallelujah for a heart like David's
Would that all ours would be the same
And we'd go forth as conquerors
Praising God in Jesus's name!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!
