Day After... Poem by RIC BASTASA

Day After...

it is only when i am done with more important matters that i come back to you
i will do something to you and about you
after i sigh, after i look both sides, after i gaze at the heavens and come back to touch the mundane,
or the unimportant ones, but just the same pleasing.

i write about your life, and i reflect about the consequences after. i control lives, and feel like a god, but at some point,
my only goal is to sleep with a clean conscience.

i put an end to living matters, not that butterfly, but the fly,
not the spider, but the fly, not the illusion but the reality, not the peace but the chaos.

after all days, a day after, i come back to save myself from all these endings, for i will be embarking on a new beginning.
it is trivial but it makes me go on.

such is this. This poem. It is not the thorn but the petal. Not the sky but the cloud. Not the banks but the river. Not the rock but the air. Not the hammer but the snail. Not the day but the twilight.

such as this. this poem that you patiently tried to read finding what is the ending of these words.

such as this. It is actually nothing but a sigh, because someone is in pain and no one is helping. Such is this.

the pain is there, and in this purification, you must always suffer alone.

how the flower was cut from its stalk when it could have died alive as a beautiful crown to its sepal.
