Daybreak Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Daybreak

The dawn has come again I rise
With Jesus as my guide
What wonders loom, what great surprise?
Around life’s corner hide

In gratitude of Christ I live
And serve You while I may
Rejoicing in the breath You give
Your blessings for today

I’m glad my God that I belong
To He who paid the price
And while I live I’ll praise in song
The King of Paradise

I thank my God for all You’ve done
For things You’ve yet to do
For helping in my battle’s won
And for the hope in view

I thank You for each mountain crest
The valleys of despair
The times I found my soul was blessed
And where I found You care

I thank You for each day’s embrace
For restful peace at night
For Jesus’ blood for saving grace
And promised robe of Light

I thank You for The Wind of change
For clouds of doubt dispersed
For love my life to rearrange
Where hatred held me cursed

I thank You for my soul reborn
Triumphs fought and striven
For Jesus Christ my future’s dawn
My wayward past forgiven
